Tired of filling in the same form data over and over again? Name, address, e-mail address, phone number--if I had a nickel for every time I'd typed that information into a Web form, well, I'd be sitting on a mighty big pile of nickels.
Firefox plug-in InFormEnter lets you complete any common Web field with just two clicks. The initial setup can be a little confusing, but once you start using it, you'll never look back.
After installing InFormEnter and restarting Firefox, click Tools, Add-ons, then scroll down until you find InFormEnter and click Options.
In the main window you'll see a list of menu items: name, address, phone, e-mail, and so on. Highlight each item and replace it with your own information, keeping in mind that what you're seeing here is just a simple list. You can modify any of the entries (and their order) as you see fit.
For example, InFormEnter suggests putting your first name on one line and your last name on another. That's fine, but many forms want your full name in a single field. No problem: just add a new line with your full name (as I've done in the example included below).
When you're done, proceed to the nearest Web form. You'll see a little blue arrow next to each field. Click it, then click the data you want InFormEnter to insert. Presto! (If you don't see the arrow for some reason, you can right-click in the field, mouse over InFormEnter, and then choose the appropriate text.)
The tool can also generate passwords for you, a nice touch. The default length is six characters, but you can increase that modifying the numerical value in the #GP:6#Generate Password string in the settings. (For example, change the 6 to an 8.)
My only complaint with InFormCenter is that the little blue marker arrows can sometimes mess with a form's layout or formatting, but you can also turn that option off in the settings.
If you're looking for a plug-in that can fill in an entire form in one fell swoop, check out the aptly named Autofill Forms.
